Born in 1970 11 19, Kaunas. From 1977 to 1984 studied piano in the J. Naujalis Art School in Kaunas under teacher R. Galinytė-Kėvišienė. From 1984 to 1989 continued his studies in the J. Gruodis Music School in Kaunas, continuing choir conducting studies under teacher L. Januškienė. From 1989 to 1994 studied choir conducting at the Kaunas faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences under professor P. Bingelis. From 1989 to 1998 sang in Kaunas State Choir. From 1998 to 2003 studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Received her Master’s degree after studying in professor Virgilijus Noreika's solo singing class. From 2003 to 2005 attended training at the study of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT).

In 2004 he debuted in the LNOBT, performing as Almaviva in G. Rossini’s opera The Barber of Seville. In 2002 participated in the Danish summer academy Opera Island Bornholm, performing as Ferrando in W. A. Mozart’s opera Cosi fan tutte  in the Stockholm and Wolfeg opera theatres. He is still performing this and other roles at the LNOBT, musical theatres of Kaunas and Klaipėda, Vilnius Domino  theatre, the State Small Theatre of Vilnius.

Mr. Zimkus is also performing concerts in Lithuania and abroad. His repertoire includes masses and oratories by J. S. Bach, G. F. Hendell, W. A. Mozart, L. van Beethoven. The soloist also performs modern music by I. Stravinsky, C. Orff, S. Prokofjev, B. Britten, V. Bartulis.

He has also worked on chamber music and song cycles: F. Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, R. Schumann’s song cycle A Poet’s Love , B. Britten’s song sycle Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo, G. Kuprevičius’s song cycle for string quartet and vocals Everyday Homeland Songs .

The singer has won several contests: 2nd place in the chamber music contest of B. Grincevičiūtė (2001); Grand Prix at the S. Baro male voice contest (2001); 3rd place at the Vilnius international singer and pianist concertmaster contest (2005); diploma at the international Jyvaskule tenor contest (2002); diploma at the Kaliningrad international chamber music contest (2002); Golden Cross of the Stage nomination (2008 and 2013); diploma from Fortūna (2008); best soloist at the Klaipėda State Music Theatre (2009); 2nd place in the Lithuanian National Television contest Arch of Triumph (2010); 2nd place in the contest Golden Voice; Grand Prix at the international chamber singing contest Beatrix (2011).

From 2006 he is the soloist of the Kaunas State Music Theatre.
