Eglė Perkumaitė (b. 04 June 1959) finished the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts (1966 – 1977). In 1977 – 1982 she studied at the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatoire with Prof. Tatyana Nikolayeva. She was awarded a diploma with the qualification of pianist-soloist, accompanist and chamber ensemble performer. In 1995 Perkumaitė attended international summer academy classes in Mozarteum (Salzburg, Austria) held by Prof. O. Mounier and A. Zakotnik, in 1996 – 1997 with the Fulbright Scholarship she studied at Miami University, USA (Prof. P. Posnak and Prof. J. R. Floyd), and in 2005 – 2006 she won the Fulbright Scholarship for creative work and research at the University of Kansas (USA). In 1993 – 1995 she studied piano at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with pianist Aldona Dvarionaitė. 
The pianist started her creative and concert career while still at school when she not only won national competitions, but also won the 1st prize at the international competition in Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic); she recorded her first vinyl disk with the school’s string orchestra (Concertino by V. Klova). She continued her concert activities while studying and performed in the cities of Lithuania, Moscow, St. Petersburg and The Netherlands. Having finished her studies in Moscow she has been giving concerts as a soloist with Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra since 1982, led by Prof. Saulius Sondeckis (1982, 1986, 1994, 1995), and with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Prof. Juozas Domarkas (1982). She has been giving recitals and chamber music evenings; Perkumaitė has accompanied singers Irena Milkevičiūtė, Virgilijus Noreika, Natalija Katilienė, Ignas Misiūra, Danielius Sadauskas and instrumentalists Laima Šulskutė, R. Butvila, A. Stulgys, A. Paukštė, etc. As a soloist and accompanist she has been giving concerts in various cities of Lithuania, also in Austria, Finland, Malaysia, Philippines, also Florida and Kansas (USA).
In 1996 together with the singer Natalija Katilienė the pianist participated in the International Singing Contest ‘Alexander Girardi’ in Coburg (Germany) where the soloist won a prize. In 1997 and 1999 Eglė Perkumaitė accompanied Lithuanian singers during international competitions in Deutschlandsberge (Austria) and Paris (France). In July – August 2001 she worked as an accompanist for international summer courses for singers and pianists in Salzburg organised by Miami University. In January 2003 she held master classes for pianists and accompanists at the Tampere Conservatoire (Finland).
E. Perkumaitė has made quite many records of chamber music for the archive of the Lithuanian Radio and Television and recorded two vinyl discs (1980 and 1986). She has been the first to perform several opuses by Lithuanian composers. Over more than twenty-five years of her career she has given around 600 various concerts. Since 1982 the pianist has been working at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and now is Assoc. Prof. at the Accompaniment Department (since 1998). She had over 70 students who graduated from the academy and include laureates of national and international competitions.
Research and Methodical Activities
E. Perkumaitė has published an article in the periodical magazine Muzika, Vol. 9–10, 1993.
She has published an educational book M. Musorgskio kamerinės vokalinės kūrybos bruožai. Vokalinių ciklų „Vaikų kampelis” ir „Mirties dainos ir šokiai” ypatybės bei atlikimo metodika (Characteristics of M. Mussorgsky’s Chamber Vocal Music. Particularities and Performance Methods of Vocal Cycles Children’s Corner and Songs and Dances of Death, Lietuvos muzikų draugija, 1998). 
She has published an article “Literatūrinių tekstų savitumai bei stilistiniai ir interpretaciniai ypatumai S. Barberio vokaliniame cikle „Atsiskyrėlio dainos”” (‘Peculiarities and Stylistic and Interpretational Aspects of Literary Texts in S. Barber’s Vocal Cycle’) in an educational volume Vokalinio ir instrumentinio akompanimento dėstymo metodika bei interpretacijos problemos (Vilnius, 2002). 
She has published an article “Charlesas Ivesas (1874-1954) ir jo dainos” (‘Charles Ives (1874-1954) and His Songs’) in an educational volume Akompanimento menas (Vilnius, 2004).
